Coldplay singer Chris Martin has sold the mansion he once shared with Gwyneth Paltrow for a staggering £7 million profit The Mail on Sunday can reveal. The vast 33room home in the Primrose Hill area of North London is made up of two properties knocked into one. The couple bought the first for £2.5 million from Kate Winslet and her then husband Sam Mendes in May 24. They then snapped up the neighbouring home for £3 million in 29 before doing extensive building works.
Now the combined home boasting eight bathrooms and a gym has been sold to an Asian businessman for £12.5 million.The property was Martin and Paltrows marital home until they announced their consciously uncoupling split in 214. Despite moving to California where he now lives with Fifty Shades Of Grey actress Dakota Johnson Martin held on to the property. A source said Chris got the house in the divorce but kept hold of it even though he lives in Malibu now. It may have been a connection to the UK for him as his life is very American but he certainly managed to make a decent profit on it.

Planning documents also showed eight rooms on the second floor. They added a pair of twostorey extensions which provided extra space for a gym changing room three further bedrooms an extra bathroom and space for a garden and play area for their daughter Apple who was born soon after they bought the first property and her younger brother Moses now 16.
The house is next door but one to James Cordens former home which he sold last year. Martin and Paltrow relocated to Los Angeles in 213 shortly before they announced they had split. A year later they filed for divorce at Los Angeles County Superior Court. The Coldplay star bought a threebedroom ranch in Malibu in May 219 for £4.25 million but sold it in January 221 when he purchased another home in the area for £11.1 million. Martin and Paltrow relocated to Los Angeles in 213 shortly before they announced they had split. Paltrow 49 now lives in Montecito California with her second husband Brad Falchuk. The couple also own a house in the Los Angeles suburb of Brentwood and a holiday home in the Hamptons the trendy summer resort for wealthy New Yorkers where they married in 218. Martin and Paltrow remain close and last week attended the high school graduation of 18yearold Apple in Santa Monica. Writing on Instagram Paltrow said Proud doesnt cover it my heart swells with feeling I cant put into words.
The exodus from an Alist enclave
It was once the trendy North London enclave whose Alist hardpartying residents included Jude Law Sadie Frost Liam and Noel Gallagher and Kate Moss – but Primrose Hill has suffered an exodus of stars in recent years. Ms Frost put the sixbedroom home she once shared with Law – and which hosted famously raucous celebrity bashes – on the market for £6 million three years ago. Ms Moss left London for the Cotswolds earlier this year while Meg Mathews the former wife of Noel Gallagher has relocated to Cornwall.
They sold their house Supernova Heights to toiletroll heiress Davinia Taylor but she has since moved to Marbella. Comedian David Walliams bought it from her for £3.25 million in 25 and sold it for £5.3 million in 219. Liam Gallagher also moved out of Primrose Hill and now lives in Highgate another North London district with his fiancee Debbie Gwyther. Model Pearl Lowe and her husband Supergrass star Danny Boffey were also members of the Primrose Hill set but have since moved to the Somerset countryside. Former residents of Primrose Hill each commemorated with an English Heritage blue plaque include historian A. J. P. Taylor revolutionary socialist Friedrich Engels Proms founder Henry Wood and poet Sylvia Plath.
