Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died on Friday March 25 after his body was found dead in his hotel room in Bogota Colombia where the rock band was to give a concert as part of its tour.  The band led by Dave Grohl announced the death of Hawkins through a publication on his official Instagram account.The Foo Fighters were scheduled to play at the Estereo Picnic Festival and this Sunday they would headline Lollapalooza Brazil although the loss of their drummer has changed all plans.

Hawkins and his link to Foo Fighters and Alanis Morissette

Hawkins career in music began at an early age. A native of Fort Worth Texas but spending his childhood in Laguna Beach California the drummer collaborated in projects such as Sylvia Sass Jordan and from 1995 to 1997 he was Alanis Morissettes drummer.

However in 1997 he was given the opportunity to join the Foo Fighters after drummer William Goldsmith left the band due to differences with Grohl. The latter spoke to Hawkins to ask him if he didnt know a good drummer who wanted to join the band as he was sure that Taylor would not stop working with Morissette who at the time was a bigger act than the band.

 Surprisingly Hawkins responded that he was offering to join the Foo Fighters as he would rather be a drummer in a rock band than a solo act. Since then the drummer has become a key part of the famous band and has even collaborated on vocals guitar and piano for several albums.

Hawkins other side projects

In addition Hawkins had a side project Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders from 2004 to 2019 in addition to joining Janes Addiction members Dave Navarro and Chris Chaney to form the band NHC and in 2005 was voted Best Rock Drummer by the voters of British drumming magazine Rhythm.

According to different sites Taylor Hawkins net worth was $40 to 57 million largely due to his collaborations with Morissette Foo Fighters and his side projects.The late drummer is survived by his wife Alison and three children Oliver Annabelle and Everleigh with whom he lived in a 7000 square-foot Hidden Hills estate valued at $2.7 million which Hawkins purchased in 2012 after moving from Topanga Canyon.
